Culinary bliss starts with a good glass of wine!
The High Wine event, a cooperation of Restaurant Fort Nassau and wine distributor Wijnkoperij De Gouden Ton, is well known to be an exclusive and cozy ‘foodie’ event that takes place at the highest situated restaurant in Curacao.
The focus of this edition was on one of the most prestigious wine makers in Italy. It has been our pleasure to host the special wine maker’s dinner with the wonderful wines of Alois Lageder at Fort Nasssau. For the exclusive dinner, which was visited by 40 guests, Mr. Lageder and his son created a personal video message, straight from their Italian winery. With every course the accompanying wines were introduced and explained by the two generations of Lageder men, which gave the evening a special and personal touch.
Chef Thomas Groen from Restaurant Fort Nassau prepared the authentic food pairings. The evening started at the patio of the restaurant with an aperitif. After sunset the tasting continued in the private, air-conditioned Rocobli Room.
Alois is one of the first winemakers who produces wines in a biological-dynamic manor and is seen by his colleagues in the world as the absolute authority in this field. The “Grands Crus” of Alois Lageder derive from grapes that are grown in the very best, family-owned, single-vineyard sites, cultivated according to biodynamic methods. These wines meet the highest quality demands and tell a compelling story of their special place of origin.
Alois Lageder is a synonym for the highest standard of quality, for a sustainable, holistic corporate philosophy in biodynamic viticulture, and for a wide spectrum of cultural and artistic activities. Founded in 1823, and now led by Alois Lageder, the fifth generation of family ownership, the winery in the Alto Adige region of Northern Italy combines tradition and innovation.
