Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival
Thursday the 30th of August our Fort Nassau team changed from location and from uniform for three days during the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival!
This year big names like Sting & Shaggy, Daddy Jankee, Ceelo Green, Christina Aguilera, Burt Bacharach, Grace Jones, Carlos Vives and Patti Labelle visited Curacao during the eight edition CNSJ. In short, three days of great music, food, drinks, a fantastic warm Caribbean ambiance and hard work…
Not only our chefs were important players at the most popular music festival in the Caribbean, our waiter team and bartenders also held important functions.
Fort Nassau team
Our Chef Thomas always has a big work load before and during the festival, organizing the menu, taking care of purchasing and supervising the deluxe food stations. In addition, he makes sure that all the dietary needs and wishes of the artist are taken care of. Emerson, his right-hand man at Fort Nassau was just as always his helping hand in the kitchen. Francis, also a chef, worked at Fort Nassau for a few months last year when a devastating hurricane passed over his home town of Sint Maarten. Though he is back in Sint Maarten, he flew over for the great experience of working at the festival and to lend a helping hand. We love to have you back with us Francis!
Our other chefs, Alex, Maria and Shanaz worked on the festival terrain in different food stations. Alex has been salmon king at the CNSJ for a few years now, making sure the famous caramelized salmon steaks on fennel and mandarin salad is perfectly executed. Shanaz took care of the Calamari crown with lemon aioli and Maria worked her magic in the dessert station.
Great music, great food, great service
Not only our chefs were important players at the most popular music festival in the Caribbean, our waiter team and bartenders also held important functions. Our assistant manager David and longtime waiter Elston were both supervisors at different deluxe wine & champagne stations. Always jolly Judy, changed her waiter outfit for an assistant chef outfit and helped with a new item at the festival, the Thai red curry chicken dish. Melanie and Jasmira worked at the all-time favorite local stoba station.
Natalia our female bartender served wines and champagne, while Jursley, our assistant bartender was mixing drinks in the premium bar. Waitresses Shereliz and Kiesha, attended to the guests in the deluxe wine & champagne bar as well as the premium bar right next to the large Sam Cooke stage. Dancing while working was allowed and so they had fun!
Last but not least, our restaurant Manager Britt helped out the whole week with the overall organization of the catering at the Curacao North Sea Jazz festival. Though it was her first time at the CNSJ festival, she worked it like a pro!
